A Dream of the Great Ming

In the ninth year of the Chongzhen reign, the Ming empire was crumbling. Plague and rebel bands ravaged the land, leaving thousands of miles scorched and barren. Historian Lin Jingyu transmigrates into this era and witnesses the brilliant beginnings of Chinese civilization on the verge of being swallowed by war, becoming the start of a century of humiliation for future generations. This is the Ming’s Lost Dream.

Unwilling to surrender to fate, he uses modern knowledge as fuel and kindles the flame of civilization in Qifeng Valley. He controls the spring plague with a “three-part isolation” system, reclaims wasteland with the “curved-shaft plow,” and irrigates fertile fields with the “dragon-bone waterwheel,” filling the mountain stronghold’s granaries. He also revolutionizes firearms with “paper-cased, fixed-ammunition cartridges,” firing three shots in ten seconds and driving back the Left Army.

Lin Jingyu’s goal is not to prop up a collapsing empire. Instead, he lays the foundation with “equal shares and united resistance,” and wields scientific enlightenment as a sword to open a new path across the ruins. He knows that only by letting this spark spread across the land and illuminate the world can he end the Lost Dream and reshape the course of civilization.

From the wilds of western Henan to the Forbidden City, from the surging Yangtze to the shores across the ocean, an expedition that began as a dirge is now underway. He will reshape the realm, conquer Fusang, reclaim the Western Regions, ride across Central Asia, review his troops on the Ganges, and follow in Genghis Khan’s footsteps into the Western world! As Eastern wisdom blends with modern rationality, a new era for all humanity is being born.

This is a heartfelt echo of what might have been, and a final rewriting of civilization’s fate.
