The Record of a Wretched Sage of Lingxiao Clinging to Life

The Wily Saint of Lingxiao: A Record of Staying Alive

On the fantastical and unpredictable Spirit Illusion Continent, cultivators draw on the spiritual energy of heaven and earth to grow stronger. The strong rule over everything, while the weak struggle to survive like ants.

Young Qin Xiangyu was born into the Qin family, one of the top clans in the Eastern Region. But he was born with a defective spiritual root, and endured the scorn and abuse of his family. His standing was even lower than a servant's.

During a family trial, Qin Xiangyu accidentally left his younger brother Qin Feng gravely injured and near death. As the others cursed him, he was filled with guilt and resentment. By a stroke of luck, he activated a mysterious jade pendant and obtained the legacy of an ancient powerhouse.

Knowing that a tree towering above the forest will be battered by the wind, Qin Xiangyu transformed himself into the ultimate pushover. When his clanmates humiliated him, he dropped to his knees and begged, "Big brother, big sister, I was wrong! Please spare me!" When someone insulted his injured younger brother, he only smiled and chimed in, "Yes, yes, you're absolutely right. My brother is useless, and I'm even more useless." He eagerly took on the family's dirtiest, hardest work, even shouting, "It's an honor!" Everyone laughed at how shameless he was.

At night, he secretly practiced the inherited arts in an abandoned outhouse. His strength steadily grew, but he kept pretending to be a coward. During a clan cultivation tournament, he ran from his opponent, shouting that he surrendered. When his opponent let his guard down, Qin Xiangyu struck back with his "Carp-Turns-Over-and-Deals-Death Slash," snatching victory from defeat. Then he immediately apologized and acted terrified again.

Later, when faced with powerful sects and dark forces, Qin Xiangyu fought if he could win and ran if he couldn't, shouting as he fled, "A gentleman's revenge can wait ten years." Relying on his shamelessness and talent for keeping his head down, he made his way toward the peak of the Spirit Realm in a hilarious, perilous journey, writing an absurd legend of his own.
