The Fourth Calamity: Those Years I Worked for the Gods

Overworked office drone Lin Qi runs into the weeping creator goddess Ailiya and is forced to clean up the mess of saving the crumbling multiverse of Aiseland. Faced with the corruption of the Void Devourers, he gets a sudden idea: he packages the apocalypse as the game Epoch of Myriad Heavens and tricks Earth’s players into becoming “useful tools.”

The players charge into battle carrying ridiculous banners, crafting players recreate McDonald’s assembly lines, and lore fanatics uncover the truth that “the shitty game designer is God.” As Lin Qi hands the goddess tissues, he watches the players dismantle evil gods and loot their coins. His childhood friend, programmer Su Xiaowan, hacks into the backend and exposes the truth, then chooses to join the effort.

From the monster tide in the starting village to expeditions across planes, the players’ “Fourth Calamity” power turns the tide of battle. When the Void Core is destroyed and peace arrives, the gaze of higher-dimensional “harvesters” quietly appears. Lin Qi and his companions stand at a new starting point. The prelude to saving the myriad heavens has only just been written.
