The Legend of Song Jiang

This story breaks with traditional narrative conventions to focus on the heart of heroism. Song Jiang holds fast to the rule, “Never harm the common people; strike down corrupt officials alone,” turning Liangshan into a refuge for the people. Lin Chong’s lonely fury as he heads to Liangshan through the snowy night, Wu Song’s resolve as he stains Mandarin Duck Tower with blood, and Lu Zhishen’s bold feat of uprooting the weeping willow all burst with soul-stirring force under the author’s pen. The work delves deeply into the characters’ inner lives. It captures Song Jiang’s ambition to “dare laugh at Huang Chao for not being a true man,” while also confronting his inner struggle between loyalty to the emperor and resistance to tyranny, portraying a tragic hero of flesh and blood.
