Hidden Dragon: Blade of Dawn

1. Infiltration and testing the waters: In 1940, Unit 731 secretly expanded its laboratories in the Northeast. Zhao Jingzhe infiltrated the facility disguised as a laborer, witnessed his fellow countrymen being treated as “experimental materials,” and resolved to take revenge. Su Qingyao approached the outer circles of Unit 731 under the guise of a chamber of commerce representative. While gathering intelligence, she unexpectedly crossed paths with Zhao Jingzhe. Once they confirmed each other’s identities, they agreed to work together.

2. Outwitting the enemy and striking back: Drawing on his knowledge of the Northeast’s terrain, Long Ge repeatedly sabotaged Unit 731’s “bacterial bomb supply line.” He contaminated water sources with herbs, poisoning Japanese army horses; laid a “bewildering maze” that led transport teams astray in the primeval forest; and even persuaded a Japanese military doctor with a conscience to provide experimental data.

3. The decisive battle and its cost: To speed up the plan, Ishii Shiro launched the “Kwantung Army Special Maneuvers,” intending to attack key cities in North China with biological weapons. Long Ge joined forces with the Anti-Japanese United Army in a two-pronged operation: openly attack the laboratory while secretly raiding the command center. Zhao Jingzhe led a squad to blow up the biological weapons storage depot and fought Ishii Shiro at close quarters. Su Qingyao used a secret letter to lure the main Japanese forces into a swamp, where the Anti-Japanese United Army’s artillery barrage helped utterly crush the plot. Ishii Shiro fled in disarray, and Unit 731’s crimes were exposed to the public. But the members of Long Ge also paid a terrible price: many doctors died developing an antidote, and several bases were destroyed after being exposed.
