The He Family’s Little Slacker’s Slow-Paced Variety Show Life

Reborn as an orphan, He Chen’s greatest wish is to be a quiet slacker. Fortunately, he has a “national treasure” of a guardian: the warm and wise Teacher He.

He Chen grows up lying flat at Teacher He’s home, never imagining that his slacker life will be ended by his own uncle. A contract for Fields of Our Dreams lands in front of him, and Teacher He smiles gently. “Xingxing, why don’t you come with your uncle to the countryside… and relax?” He Chen wails inwardly: The end of my slacker days!

And so, an oddball barges into the variety-show scene of a parallel world. At Mushroom House, he turns chopping firewood into demolishing the house, planting rice seedlings into a mud-wrestling match, and sneaks food from Huang the Chef with uncanny precision. He turns a slow-paced countryside show into a highlight reel of baffling slacker antics. Online viewers are stunned: Who’s this lazy, well-connected guy?… Okay, we get it! His reaction images are already a hit!

Forced out of slacker mode, he catches the eye of the “cheeky and adorable” superstar Chen Chichi, who’s visiting the show. “This kid’s got a natural talent for being a sneaky little schemer! Come join me on Let’s Run, Brothers!” And so, the “Good-for-Nothing Brothers” burst onto the scene. Ripping off name tags? Keep a low profile if you can! Pressure-point mats? Lie flat and play dead! He Chen makes his titles of “King of Scavenging” and “God of Winning by Doing Nothing” stick for good, and the barrage of comments goes wild: “I’ve never seen a regular cast member with such a uniquely gifted physique!”

But the ultimate test for a slacker is The Ultimate Men’s Team. Faced with a group of wily characters like the Fortune Teller and Bad Uncle, He Chen is forced to level up his sneaky slacker techniques: playing dumb, stumbling into things by accident, and… lying flat elegantly at the center of a storm? Director Wang Zhengyu looks at him with excited “I want to experiment” eyes.

Next comes Director Wang’s “budget trip”…
