In the Breeze of Qujiang

From the reign of Emperor Xuanzong during the Tianbao era to the aftermath of the An Lushan Rebellion (approximately 742–763), the prosperous Tang dynasty falls from its peak into turmoil. The splendor of Chang'an stands in stark contrast to the devastation left by war, while the imperial examination system, the power of aristocratic clans, and the blending of Hu and Han cultures remain defining features of the age. Shen Zhiyan, a scholar from a humble family, and Li Mingyue, the daughter of a military household, fall in love despite the rigid social hierarchy of Tang society. But the tide of the An Lushan Rebellion sweeps them up, putting them through separation, betrayal, and trials between life and death. In the end, amid the chaos of war, they come to understand that “love is not only moonlit nights and flowers, but also the commitment to weather every storm together.”
