Bayan Susu

Because of a famine in his hometown in Hebei, young Wang Fulai obeyed his father's instructions and headed northeast with his third uncle. After enduring countless hardships, he reached Bayan Susu. He first worked as a clerk at Zhouji General Store, then took over the shop. He married Li Xiulan and raised a family, making his living through the store. In his later years, his grandson Xiaoyuan came to live with him. Wang Fulai kept up his industrious habits, rising early every day to tend the shop and tell his grandson stories from the past. He put down roots in this land and made a new home of a foreign place.
