Back Before the Stars Fell

For eight thousand years, he ranged across the cosmos, commanded myriad races, and gazed down upon the stars. He was Su Chen, the Haoyuan Immortal Venerable, whose name shook the ages.

Yet just as he was about to overcome his final divine tribulation and ascend to the summit of the Ten Thousand Dao, his Dao heart shattered, and he perished. The reason was a deeply rooted inner demon: his wife and daughter, who had withered away long ago because of his cowardice and incompetence, back on his blue home planet before he ever set foot on the path of immortal cultivation.

They were his eternal pain, his regret for all eternity.

As the divine lightning of the tribulation obliterated his soul, he awoke with a splitting headache from a night of heavy drinking.

A dilapidated rental apartment, an ear-piercing phone ring, and the news from the other end that made his heart tremble: “Am I speaking with Su Nian’s father? Your daughter has been hospitalized with a high fever...”

Time had turned back to the summer before the tragedy began.

This time, the Immortal Venerable was reborn, not to ascend the Great Dao or rule over heaven and earth.
