The Grave Robbers' Chronicles: Zhang Qiling's Ten-Year Promise

For ten years, snow fell on Changbai Mountain, and the darkness behind the Bronze Gate waited. In 2005, when Zhang Qiling turned and stepped through that gate, he left Wu Xie more than a Ghost Seal. He also left a promise that would keep the entire tomb-raiding universe on tenterhooks: “Ten years from now, if you still remember me, come take my place.”

Over those ten years, Wu Xie grew from the naive “Third Young Master” into a leader who could shoulder responsibility. He pored over notes and retraced old paths, piecing together Zhang Qiling’s past again and again amid the sands of the Snake Marsh Ghost City and the mists of the Yin Mountain Ancient Tower, while holding fast to his resolve to keep their appointment. In the winter of 2015, he set out with Pangzi and his gear, braving the blizzard on Changbai Mountain. Every step followed the bonds once shared by the Iron Triangle, and every glance searched for the figure who had vanished ten years ago.

No one knows what “the ultimate” behind the Bronze Gate conceals, but everyone is waiting: waiting for Wu Xie to push open that gate, waiting for Zhang Qiling to say the long-awaited words, “I’m back.” This journey across ten years is more than the fulfillment of a promise. It is also an answer to the youth of every Daomi: the secrets buried in tomb corridors and the bonds carved into their very bones will finally find their most fervent reunion amid Changbai Mountain’s wind and snow.
