A Knockoff God? The Glory of the Measuring-Tape Department

In 2025, a laboratory explosion hurled Li Ran, a solid-state battery expert, back twenty years, to a lawless era when Nokia ruled the streets and domestic carmakers survived by copying foreign designs with tape measures. Penniless, he clutched a future tablet with only 5% battery left and stood outside the weathered walls of Zotye’s factory. Flames burned in his eyes. “Copycats? That’s a dead end! This time, I’ll use the spark of the future to ignite the backbone of China’s auto industry!”

Through the passionate journey of three generations of automotive pioneers, witness the epic comeback of China’s new energy vehicle industry, from a “technological wasteland” to a “global leader.”

Policy breakthrough: From the “Ten Cities, Thousand Vehicles” pilot program to mandatory transitions under the credit system, targeted subsidies irrigate the supply chain, while charging stations spread across China like blood vessels.

Technology takes the field: Ternary lithium breaks through the limits of energy density, while lithium iron phosphate stages a comeback with its low cost and safety. Fully self-developed electronic control chips pierce the technological blockade, and smart cockpits redefine the relationship between people and cars.

The global race: BYD’s Blade Battery silences its doubters, Nio’s battery-swap stations spread across European highways, and the million-yuan Yangwang U8 smashes the “low-end” label. Chinese brands’ market share rises from less than 5% to a sweeping 75% of the large SUV market, and the BBA throne comes crashing down.

“Changing lanes to overtake is a desperate gamble, but also a long march undertaken with clear eyes. When the spark of an industry catches fire through the convergence of policy, technology, and the market, the stubbornness of every last screw will forge the wheels of a rising great power!”
