Global Cataclysm: I’ve Stockpiled Enough Supplies to Last Five Hundred Years

[On the Eve of the Global Freeze, I Stockpiled Five Hundred Years’ Worth of Supplies]

For three days straight, Lin Mo dreamed of a cold wave at minus 150 degrees swallowing the world.

While the news was still reporting a “cold weather alert,” he sold everything he owned and mortgaged his property, turning the inherited detached villa into a steel fortress. The basement was stacked with 100 tons of rice, 500 cases of canned food, and enough medicine to supply five people for fifty years. Solar panels and a diesel generator covered the roof. The fridge was packed with ice cream and chilled cola. He even stockpiled toilet paper up to the ceiling at a rate of ten rolls a day.

His neighbors called him crazy, and his coworkers laughed at him for worrying over nothing. Then, on the seventh day, the temperature plunged to minus 80 degrees, the power went out, and the city froze over.

Desperate cries and pounding on the door sounded outside. Wrapped in a down jacket, Lin Mo ate hot pot in a heated room at 26 degrees, watching his neighbors shiver on the security cameras as he calmly opened a beer.

“Sorry about that,” he said, raising his glass to the camera. “Looks like I really do have enough supplies to last five hundred years.”

While others fought over half a biscuit, he was figuring out how rare to cook his steak. While survivor groups fought tooth and nail for a mouthful of clean water, his swimming pool had long since frozen into a natural ice cellar. Mutant ice wolves surrounding the city? No rush. First, he would have the drones drop a couple of boxes of expired canned food to lure them away.

What Lin Mo hadn’t expected was that having too many supplies could be a problem too.

“Bro! Take me with you! I’ll keep your bed warm!”

“Boss! How about trading a beauty for bread?”

“Lin Mo! The military orders you to hand over your supplies!”

Lin Mo grabbed his modified crossbow and sneered. “You want them? Come and take them if you can.”
