Shattered Jade, Locked Away Sorrows

Shen Yuwei, a disgraced woman from Jiangnan, meets Xiao Che, the God of War of the northern frontier, on a snowy night. One glance leaves her stunned, and one mistaken bond entangles them for half a lifetime.

He is the iron-blooded marquis guarding Yanmen; she is a homeless orphan burdened by her family's vengeance. The warmth of his cloak has yet to fade when flames of war consume all tenderness. An imperial edict of marriage separates them, one within vermilion gates and the other without. Then, in a battle to the death, she stakes her life, while he can only watch her turn away.

Amid Jiangnan's rain, she tends the fragrance of gardenias at an old friend's grave, burying the love she never voiced in the spring earth. On a snowy night at Yanmen, he grips the silver bracelet she left behind and stands before the mountain god's temple, frozen in eternal solitude.

The demands of country and family repeatedly pull against the desires of the heart. Lost time, letters never delivered, and a final glance at death's door become sorrows locked away in the years gone by. When frost and snow cover their hair, they finally understand: some loves are destined to shatter from the moment they begin, yet leave an indelible mark on each other's lives.
