Unit 516: An Even More Terrifying Presence Than Unit 731

Hell on earth, a poisonous fog shrouds the northern frontier! 516 Unit: More Terrifying Than Unit 731 tears open the doors to the Japanese army’s most secret demonic laboratory!

In 1939, a secret order arrived in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang, and the Kwantung Army’s Chemical Warfare Unit 516 was quietly established under the heel of the Japanese occupation. It was Unit 731’s “poisonous twin,” but more sinister, more lethal, and responsible for even longer-lasting devastation!

Chen Tiezhu, a Chinese laborer abducted by force, spends each day hauling deadly metal canisters labeled “pine-root oil” through the stinging chemical fog. He watches his fellow workers’ skin rot as they suffocate in silent poison gas, and witnesses the hellish scene of the Japanese army testing “new drugs” on living people. Beneath his numb exterior, the flames of revenge burn bright.

Lin Wei appears to be a meek nurse at a Japanese military hospital, but in truth she is a key operative in an underground intelligence network. Medical records documenting the bizarre symptoms of “special patients,” along with streams of top-secret information pointing to “516,” quietly gather in her hands. She knows she is walking on the edge of death, all to uncover a truth more terrifying than death itself.

From the poison clouds of Nomonhan to the toxic rain over Zhejiang and Jiangxi; from live human experiments in laboratories to mass slaughter on the battlefield, the demonic hand of Unit 516 silently reaps lives and poisons the land.

Yet the demons’ crimes did not end with Japan’s surrender in 1945. In 2003, a deafening blast shook Qiqihar. Chemical gas leaked from canisters buried for more than half a century, poisoning innocent civilians in peacetime. History echoed back in the cruellest way…

Today, the site of Unit 516 stands in silence, a voiceless accusation and an eternal
