Antique Appraisal: My Left Eye Can See How Long Artifacts Will Last

Golden finger: A visual display of how long cultural relics will last. Red means they are about to deteriorate; green means they can be restored and increase in value.

Story outline:

Chen Fan, a museum security guard, unexpectedly gains an eye for appraising treasures and discovers that the museum’s star exhibit is a fake, with only three days left before it deteriorates. He exposes the experts’ scam. At an antiques market, he buys a Ding kiln porcelain shard for 50 yuan, with a thousand years of life left. After restoring it, he sells it at auction for the astronomical sum of one billion yuan. He helps the police crack an international relic-smuggling case, eventually becoming a master restorer of national treasures and founding the world’s largest private museum.

Action-packed highlights:

- During a livestream appraisal, he points out that an expert’s “ancestral jade pendant” is a fake made just last week.

- He uses laser restoration to perfectly repair a shattered Yuan dynasty blue-and-white porcelain piece, stunning the world.

- When a tomb-raiding gang threatens him, Chen Fan summons “guardian spirits of cultural relics,” the spirits born from the artifacts he has restored, and turns the tables on them.
