Tales of the Bagua: A Mysterious Legend from Its Origins to the Present tells the long history of Bagua culture in the form of a novel. In ancient times, Fuxi saw a dragon-horse bearing a diagram and grasped the principle of Taiji, from which the Two Principles and then the Earlier Heaven Bagua were formed, marking the beginning of Bagua. After a turbulent history of transmission, King Wen of Zhou reformed it while imprisoned in Youli, giving rise to the Later Heaven Bagua.

Throughout history, Bagua has blended with the various schools of thought. Daoism drew on its balance of yin and yang to enrich its philosophy, while Confucianism adopted its moral principles to refine its teachings, and other schools were influenced as well. Bagua also took deep root among the people: it guided site selection and layout in feng shui, became a symbol for attracting good fortune and averting calamity in folk culture, and helped shape traditional crafts such as architecture, painting, and martial arts.

From its origins and transmission to its transformations and applications across different fields, this book offers a comprehensive look at Bagua's legendary journey from mysterious beginnings to widespread use. It vividly presents the wisdom and cultural appeal it embodies, inviting readers to explore the fascinating world of this ancient cultural symbol.
