The Shackles Called Protection

The Shackles Called Protection tells the coming-of-age story of Lin Yue, who grows from an innocent, rebellious girl into someone who gradually understands the deep bonds she shares with her four older sisters. After their parents pass away, Su Man, Su Ling, Su Qingyuan, and Su Wanqing hide their powerful pasts to keep Lin Yue safe, building a “protective bubble” around her with almost obsessive devotion. From never leaving her side at school to keeping her under close watch at work, their love follows her everywhere, but it also feels like invisible shackles, and Lin Yue, desperate for independence, repeatedly tries to break free. Punishment for skipping class to see an exhibition, anxiety when she stays out all night, the danger of getting caught up in a gang dispute... Every clash tears at the peaceful surface, exposing the wounds and ruthlessness hidden beneath her sisters’ tenderness. As the secrets of the “fourth sister’s” past gradually come to light, and Lin Yue discovers that the strict control was protection bought with blood, she begins to understand: those so-called “shackles” are simply the security her sisters wagered the rest of their lives to give her.
