The Little Money Lover's Genius Tenant

Lin Xiaotang, a money-loving street vendor who grew up in an orphanage, rents out her spare bedroom and meets Gu Zhaoming, a hidden-identity genius game developer and heir to the Gu Group. Their story begins with a misunderstanding over their “landlord and tenant” relationship, then gradually turns into a sweet daily romance. Gu Zhaoming confesses his love through a game scene and helps Lin Xiaotang grow her sugar-painting business, while Lin Xiaotang’s foodie nature helps him forget the pressures of his family. But a host of antagonists keep driving a wedge between them: Gu Zhaoming’s sharp-tongued mother, Lin Xiaotang’s fake best friend from the orphanage, and Gu Zhaoming’s younger brother Gu Zhaoyuan, who is fighting for the inheritance. The couple weather rumors, misunderstandings over a long-distance relationship, and a crisis at the company. Lin Xiaotang grows from a love-struck gold digger into an independent woman, using the income from her sugar-painting shop to help Gu Zhaoming resolve the company crisis. Gu Zhaoming, in turn, learns to face his family instead of shirking his responsibilities. He gives up his position as heir and joins Lin Xiaotang in running a chain of sugar-painting shops. In the end, the two reunite at a seaside wedding. After a past of “hiding knives in candy,” they find happiness in a life where “the scabbard is made of sugar.”
