Rot Away or Stay Alive: Choose One

Jiang Ruyue, a graduate student in toxicology, opens her eyes and falls from a laboratory into the poisonous lair of the Great Jing Dynasty.

In a borderland forest, she casually splashes disinfectant at assassins from the Five Poisons Blood Fiend Sect, driving them back. Little does she know that this bottle of "deadly poison" has made her the talk of the martial world. Worse still, while fleeing, she crashes into the arms of a cool and refined young nobleman: the very Third Prince, Xiao Yichen, who is investigating a case in disguise.

"Your poison skills are certainly... unique," Xiao Yichen says, turning the sect token she dropped between his fingers, a calculating look in his eyes. The token is strangely connected to clues about the cause of his mother's death.

One wants to rely on a prince's power to stay alive; the other wants to use modern toxicology to solve the case. Each with their own agenda, they team up. Jiang Ruyue examines poison insects under a microscope and breaks poison arrays with chemical reactions, leaving martial artists completely bewildered. Meanwhile, Xiao Yichen pretends to be an easygoing prince while using her "strange methods" to root out the corrupt elements in the court.

But as the Five Poisons Blood Fiend Sect's plot gradually comes to light and the red thread of the mother-and-child Gu worms entangles them, they realize that their partnership, which began as a means to an end, has already become a bond that will carry them through life and death.

When poison arts meet science, and a reserved prince faces a tough woman who transmigrated from the modern world, which is more deadly: poison Gu, or falling in love?
