In Those Days, We Were Both Right Here

In the blazing summer of her seventeenth year, Lin Xi faintly remembers collapsing in front of the school building and falling into Jiang Yi's coffee-scented arms. His white shirt was stained with ink from her notes, and her school uniform picked up a coffee stain from his clothes. That awkward first encounter became the first mark left on the long years ahead.

From studying side by side in their high school classroom to sharing earphones in the university library; from disagreements and steadfast devotion during graduation season to backing each other up at work; from their first bowl of red-braised pork in a rented apartment to vows at their wedding... They once argued fiercely over a math problem, cried over misunderstandings caused by a long-distance relationship, and clashed with their parents over the bride price. Yet at every important turn, they held on to each other's hands.

Ten years passed, from school uniforms to wedding dresses, from youthful innocence to certainty. The growing pains, tests of reality, and wear of time all became part of the story of us. Only when they walk through their old campus holding their daughter's hand do they understand: the best kind of love is never grand and dramatic. It is finding that as the years go by, you are still there, and I have never left.
