Modern history professor Hesheli Yanqiu and cultural relic restorer Wuy a Mingyue are both transported into the Kangxi era after a museum accident. Hesheli Yanqiu becomes a junior member of the Hesheli clan of the Bordered Yellow Banner and is bound to the “Chronology System,” tasked with correcting deviations in history. Wuy a Mingyue, however, is reborn as an imperial jade ruyi carved from Hotan jade and bound to the “Spiritual Essence System.” She can only sense the outside world through Yanqiu and must absorb dragon energy and blessings to earn her keep.
One is a court pawn with a System; the other is a spirit trapped in jade, forced to watch from the sidelines. Bound together by their two Systems, they have no choice but to share their senses and exchange points. From Oboi’s rise to power to the struggle among the nine princes for the throne, they must survive the turbulent palace intrigue while handling the Systems’ conflicting missions: Yanqiu must “preserve the true course of history,” while Mingyue must “use the tide to change her fate.” When cracks in the jade ruyi begin to seep blood, and history’s course veers from its intended path, the two souls from another world will finally understand: fate is not dictated by a System. It is the path they choose together, when their palms meet.
