The Crime Squad of Four: Solving Cases and Losing Our Cool

When serious criminal investigations collide with chaotic daily life, the “oddball task force” led by Captain Chen Feng always runs into one mishap after another on the hunt for criminals. Cool on the outside but warm at heart, he has to reconstruct bloody crime scenes and clean up after his hotheaded trainee, Lin Xiaoran, who has a knack for making a mess of things, like driving suspects crazy with terrible jokes. Shen Yan, a specially hired criminal psychology expert who solves cases through microexpressions, is no match for forensic pathologist Su Tang’s sharp tongue: “Your tie looks better with blood on it than with coffee stains.”

From “judgment in blood” at an influencer’s livestream to a bronze murder weapon in an antique hot pot; from a time loop in an amusement park escape room to a death accusation by an AI smart home... As four very different leads solve eight bizarre cases, they must not only take on a serial killer lurking in the shadows, but also deal with tangled feelings: Chen Feng rubs Lin Xiaoran’s feet and gets thrown over her shoulder; Shen Yan discovers that Su Tang has been hiding a magazine interview about him. Teacher and student become partners in life and death, and their constant bickering gives way to a meeting of minds.

In the interrogation room, suspects are frozen into confessing by bad jokes. During an investigation, the whole team eats hot pot until they get diarrhea. On the chase, a flat tire leaves them pushing the car and arguing. When the serious core of crime collides with everyday banter, this “unreliable” team always manages to tear open the truth amid laughter, showing through passion and professionalism that corpses don’t lie, justice never takes a day off, and the warmth of those around you is armor stronger than any evidence.
