She Refused to Marry the Buddhist Prince, and the Goddess Became the Crown Prince’s Darling

The rain that fell from the sky was the long-awaited blessing of the Shenyuan Kingdom, but it also brought modern-day flower girl Jiang Guanxing straight into the arms of Xie Xuanxiao, the Buddhist sage and Imperial Preceptor. After transmigrating, she became the “Goddess” worshipped by the entire Shenyuan Kingdom, but she fell head over heels for the Imperial Preceptor, so aloof and ethereal, at first sight.

Armed with a golden finger and boundless enthusiasm, she drew closer to him step by step in the name of the Goddess.

But Xie Xuanxiao only had eyes for his frail “childhood sweetheart,” Lin Jiaojiao. He scorned Jiang Guanxing’s bold declarations of love. “Have you no shame?”

She climbed all nine hundred and ninety-nine steps on her knees, bowing with every step to pray for a jade pendant of good fortune for him. In the blink of an eye, he gave it to his “little sister.”

When Lin Jiaojiao’s carefully laid trap made Xie Xuanxiao believe he had seen Jiang Guanxing push someone down and steal the pendant,

his furious palm strike sent Jiang Guanxing, who had no inner power to protect her, crumpling to the ground, coughing up blood. The jade pendant she had poured her heart and soul into shattered on impact.

The fire of love went out in Jiang Guanxing’s eyes. “Xie Xuanxiao, I can’t bear the weight of your affection!”

“Xing’er!” The Crown Prince Xiao Chengye was so furious that he struck Xie Xuanxiao away with one palm, then drew her, battered and bruised, protectively into his arms. “I’ll see justice done for you!” He had long since seen through Lin Jiaojiao’s venomous nature, and now he had irrefutable proof.

Only after his clingy little shadow had vanished for good did Xie Xuanxiao learn the meaning of bone-deep, soul-freezing pain. The presiding monk’s words cut into his heart like a blade: “The Goddess climbed those steps on her knees to pray for that pendant for you...”

The truth came too late, and a flood of love engulfed him. The aloof Buddhist sage went completely mad.

Xie Xuanxiao begged pathetically, “Xing’er, please turn around and look at me. I was wrong!”

Jiang Guanxing sneered. “Get lost! I don’t want a man who’s been sullied!”

Xie Xuanxiao’s eyes turned bloodred as he cast aside every precept and restraint. “I’m not sullied! Baby.”
