The Illegitimate Son of Jizhou: A Dragon Lurking in the Abyss

A top modern special forces soldier dies unexpectedly on a mission, and his soul transmigrates to the end of the Eastern Han dynasty. He becomes Yuan Chen, the fourth son born to the northern warlord Yuan Shao and a servant girl. In this world, not only is he lowborn and regarded as a disgrace by the Yuan family, who have exiled him, but he has also been born into an age when martial arts flourish and wandering heroes roam everywhere. Yuan Chen knows that in this illustrious family, renowned for producing high officials for four generations, his life as an illegitimate son is worth less than grass. He could be quietly eliminated at any moment in the power struggle among Yuan Shao’s sons. To survive, he draws on the military expertise and ahead-of-his-time knowledge from his previous life to begin operating in secret. By chance, Yuan Chen uncovers a shocking secret: the ruins of the Tyrant King Hall, an ancient martial arts organization that once shook the Western Han dynasty, was founded with the involvement of Xiang Yu, the Hegemon-King of Western Chu, and then mysteriously vanished. Within the ruins, he finds not only a vast hoard of gold and silver, but also lost manuals of supreme martial arts and treatises on military strategy. Using these resources, Yuan Chen secretly trains in powerful techniques and applies modern special operations principles to build an elite force of absolutely loyal death warriors. At the same time, his literary talents and unfathomable strategies allow him to win over talented people struggling to survive in the chaotic age. In secret, he also establishes ties with a mysterious organization called the Listening Rain Pavilion. Founded by women and spread throughout the land, it is an intelligence network dedicated to helping women caught in the chaos of war. The pavilion’s leader is a remarkable woman whose own origins are equally mysterious. After initially testing each other, she and Yuan Chen become the firmest of allies, making their moves together on the chessboard of a world in turmoil.
