After Dumping the Scumbag General, I Became a Princess Consort

“The day she shattered their betrothal jade, the camellias at Prince Jing'an's residence bloomed overnight.”

Shen Zhiyi, the capital's foremost young lady, pledged herself to Lu Chenzhou, only son of the General's Manor, at her coming-of-age ceremony, with a camellia hairpin. She had an entire garden of camellias transplanted to the General's Manor for him, only to await his triumphant return and find him holding a pregnant physician in his arms.

“These flowers bring ill luck. Cut them down.”

As her former lover personally swung his sword and severed the camellia trees, she silently counted to eighteen. That was how many footsteps he had taken along her courtyard wall when he climbed over it to ask for her hand.

Later, the whole capital heard the news:

The daughter of the Shen family presented a divorce agreement at court, its golden-edged camellia pattern shining brilliantly in the hall.

Xiao Jingheng, Prince of Jing'an, rushed to the palace in the middle of the night with copies of the account books from every one of her shops over the past three years. On the final page, a note in vermilion ink read, “My dear frowned today. Was the newly brewed plum wine too sour?”

And General Lu, banished to the border, knelt in the ruins and finally unearthed the still-living camellia root. Just like the seeds she had hidden beneath the broken jade pendant all those years ago, it had quietly spread throughout the prince's entire back garden before he ever knew.
