Tan Yunxian, a female physician from the Ming Dynasty, transmigrates into the modern era after being struck by heavenly lightning, just as the first cases of COVID-19 emerge. Taking the new name Tan Xiaoxian, she adapts to modern life and uses her traditional Chinese medicine skills to treat patients for free. But practicing medicine without a license sparks public controversy and draws the attention of disease control authorities. It also brings the mysterious Lu Cheng and Su Mo close to her under the guise of being her “protectors,” though each has hidden family motives.

To find medicinal ingredients for fighting the epidemic, she ventures deep into the mountains of western Hubei with Lu Cheng and Su Mo. They face life-or-death dangers, uncover clues about the virus’s spread, and discover undercurrents among powerful families.
