The Calamity-Prone Young Judge: A Bumpy Journey to Yonghe Temple

Chen Xian, the Taoist temple's famous “lie-flat” champion, spends her days sneaking pickled cucumbers, dodging morning lessons, and driving her master up the wall.

Then one day, clutching a broken compass that “heats up to sound the alarm,” she is tossed out of the temple along with her bundle. Her master claims, “Yonghe Temple needs a judge. You're filling in!” Chen Xian: “???” A judge? Is she supposed to judge whether lotus root stuffed with sticky rice tastes good, or whether her senior brother chops wood too loudly?

She arrives in the capital and sets up a stall at the foot of the palace walls to make ends meet. She means to use half a copy of The Book of Physiognomy to con someone out of a couple of meat buns, but Yonghe Temple's “miracles” don't play by the rules.

“Miss! Show me the way!” She casually points toward a filthy ditch... and they pull out a family heirloom that had been missing for three years!

“She's incredible! Idle Half-Immortal really is a ‘fated loner’... no, a ‘miraculous judge’ descended to the mortal realm!” The incense worshippers drop to their knees in excitement. Chen Xian clutches her head and wails, “What judge? These clients from the underworld are treating me like a wishing well!”

And the most ridiculous part? Besides the scorching compass, her master's “work equipment” includes a red silk cloth that keeps getting struck by lightning. Even the dogs passing by look at her as if she's a walking disaster!
