Sole Sword Sovereign: Beyond the Heavens

With one sword strike, Ye Xuan shattered the Immortal Realm's heavenly gate and became the first Sword Emperor in ten thousand years. He thought ascension was the ultimate goal, but atop the Immortal Realm he saw a colossal bronze wheel grinding through the void. Countless mighty predecessors, pierced by chains, wailed as they mined beneath it. "Grandmaster?" Ye Xuan recognized one of the figures. The once-invincible grandmaster now had a vacant stare. "Run... The Immortal Realm is a lie..." The immortal crystal in Ye Xuan's palm shattered, revealing writhing black parasites within. It turned out that the so-called immortal energy of eternal life was nothing but poisonous bait used to feed the prisoners.
