The Girl Who Works at Funerals and Keeps the Night Watch

In a village lives a girl named Zhang Youyou, who is not yet twenty. Her mother died when she was young, and her father went to prison, so she grew up with her grandmother. Later, her grandmother fell ill and piled up a mountain of debt. Before she died, she left Youyou a comprehensive guide to funeral rites. Youyou gets into college and works to pay off the debt while saving up for tuition.

To earn money, she takes jobs keeping vigil for other people’s children, fighting ghosts in funeral halls.
