The Taoist Charlatan in Hemp Robes Takes on Tianlong

As the last surviving disciple of the mysterious Tianji Pavilion, Liu Xuanji inherited his founding master’s talent for spinning yarns. He was a brilliant writer who could speak in polished verse, make the dead talk and the living seem dead. As for his martial arts… well, supposedly they were beyond the mundane and unfathomably deep. That was what he claimed, anyway. His escape skills really were first-rate.

Dressed in hemp robes and carrying a banner proclaiming him a “Divine Fortune-Teller,” Liu Xuanji traveled the martial world, making a spectacle of himself. With a silver tongue that could turn black into white and a deer into a horse, plus a little bit of his family’s dubious “heavenly secrets” mysticism, he specialized in all kinds of “difficult cases”: reading the romantic fortunes of Young Master Duan of Dali, predicting Young Master Murong’s “plans to restore his kingdom,” and persuading the disciples of the Old Immortal of the Constellation Sect to mend their ways and return to the path of “divination”…

He had planned to coast through life with his gift of gab, enjoying the martial world and getting rich. But he took his fortune-telling a little too seriously, and somehow kept stumbling into the eye of the storm, either by accident or through a chain of unfortunate coincidences. The mystery of Qiao Feng’s birth? Xu Zhu’s fateful encounter with Buddhism? Duan Yu’s turbulent love life? There always seemed to be a “divine fortune-teller’s” invisible hand, or perhaps his cursed tongue, stirring up trouble behind the scenes.

And so, a legend spread through the martial world: When in doubt, ask Xuanji. But the price of a reading… might be an empty purse, a shattered worldview, or, more likely, a divination-fueled disaster that leaves you laughing and crying at once while turning your life upside down!

See how this hemp-robed charlatan who makes his living by spinning yarns navigates the world of Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils, a place of flashing blades and clashing swords, using his “literary talent” (trash talk) and “martial arts” (lightness skills and the art of deception) to stage one absurd and hilarious farce after another!
