A Summer Daydream

For the sake of appearances, my fiancé slapped me hard in front of everyone.

That very day, I deleted every one of his contact details.

No one could believe it.

Shen Zhixu and I grew up together. From the age of six to twenty-four, I chased after him like a shadow for eighteen whole years.

On the day I left to study abroad, he stopped me, his voice filled with a bewilderment I'd never heard before:

"Why? Just because I hit you?"

I looked him straight in the eye and said, one word at a time:

"Yes. Because you hit me."
