He Was Getting Too Close to His First Love, So I Walked Away

On the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, I prepared a table full of food and waited for Jiang Chi to come home.

Jiang Chi didn't even glance at it. He simply packed his luggage.

In a cold voice, he said, "I can't spend the Mid-Autumn Festival with you this year."

I said nothing and quietly ate my crab.

At midnight, Jiang Chi's first love posted on her social media, right on schedule.

In the photo, she was smiling as she leaned on Jiang Chi's back, with a bright full moon outside the window.

The caption read, "I raise my cup to invite the moon; my shadow and I make three."

I didn't angrily demand an explanation. I simply gave the post a like.

Jiang Chi called. There was a hint of panic in his voice. "Don't read too much into it. I'll definitely spend the Mid-Autumn Festival with you next year..."

I froze for a few seconds, then smiled faintly and said nothing.

Next year?

Jiang Chi...

There won't be a next time.
