The Breeze on No. 14 Zhangjiang Road

Childhood sweethearts + second-chance romance + youth + happy ending + sweet The wind on Zhangjiang Road No. 14 once scattered the memories of Meng Xing and Qi Fan’s youth. The year they graduated from middle school, Meng Xing heard that he had thrown away her yearbook. She never went to ask him what he had been thinking, though she did not know why. Misunderstanding wound around her heart like a vine, and in a fit of pique she cut off contact. Even though they spent all three years of high school in the same city, she deliberately lived as if they were two parallel lines. Then, after the college entrance exams, she and her friend Su Xuran happened to see him in a seaside city, wearing a white shirt. The sea breeze lifted the hem of his shirt, and she hurriedly dodged away. She thought the heartbreak of feeling abandoned had long since scabbed over. But fate insisted on playing a joke. On the first day of college, Meng Xing saw that familiar face again in the welcoming crowd. Su Xuran poked her in the arm and laughed, “It’s fate.” Meng Xing gritted her teeth and muttered, “More like a cursed connection.” It was not until winter break of her freshman year, when she attended a middle school reunion, that Qi Fan stopped her and explained what had happened. At last, the wind on Zhangjiang Road swept away their misunderstanding. When Meng Xing saw the earnestness in Qi Fan’s eyes, she realized that all the chances they had missed over the years had been quietly buried by the wind at the crossroads where they met again. This time, they would not let the wind carry them away from each other. On the university’s plane-tree-lined path, the shadows of the young man and woman overlapped once more, continuing the story of childhood sweethearts that time had put on hold.
