A Lie-Fat Farmer's Epic Comeback

When Lin Xiaoman discovers her grandfather’s yellowed farming journal in the attic of the old family home, she has no idea it will be the starting point of her comeback, from an overworked corporate drone to a leader of rural life. On the muddy ridge between the fields, she walks through the morning mist, clutching a jar of pickles. Behind her, Chen Tiezhu is tinkering with a “dog-language translator.” Ahead lies the capitalist trap set by Boss Li.

When she first returns to the countryside, chickens chase her, ducks peck at her, and Wang Xiulan’s remark, “A pampered city girl,” leaves her red-faced and flustered. The farm runs out of money, her livestream goes disastrously wrong, and Zhou Xiaotang’s cosplay becomes a village-wide laughingstock. She takes a gamble with her hands-off “let-it-all-fall-apart” management style, letting everyone fend for themselves, and accidentally brings out the hidden potential in each of them. Wang Xiulan’s pickles win over Michelin judges, Zhang Yu’s blockchain technology makes every piece of fruit traceable, and Chen Tiezhu’s invention really does understand what dogs are thinking. The land is polluted and trust is betrayed. Standing amid the ruins of the orchard, Lin Xiaoman gazes at the land that made her reborn, tears mingling with sweat.

When the countryside is no longer a utopia for escaping reality, but a new battleground where destinies are contested, what should people choose? Should they bow to the flood of capital, or use passion and soil to grow a life that is uniquely their own, fierce and fabulous?
