The Watermelon Field War God Carries Farming Across the Three Realms

When a sprouting grain of rice starts dancing the tango on a bronze fragment, the gears of Yun Gui Village’s fate begin to turn. Gu Xiaoman squats before three mu of wasteland, holding a coarse pottery bowl full of freshly mixed manure water, yet wearing a smile more confident than any immortal’s.

He starts with nothing: a drafty thatched hut and villagers who look down on him. He uses modern knowledge to improve farming tools, but gets one farcical failure after another. Then the mysterious fragment of a bronze cauldron accidentally activates, and seeds shoot up through the soil in his hands. From the mocked “Manure-Water War God” to the whole village’s beloved “Fieldside Sage,” every step he takes falls somewhere between mud and hope. The village head goes from frowning to nodding, and Wang Tiezhu goes from provoking him with his herd of pigs to working with him. Their seemingly trivial farming routines quietly begin to reshape agriculture across the Three Realms.

The price is a rope of sweat and misunderstanding, cutting into his calloused palms. Some question his heretical methods that rely on no magic; others envy how quickly he has risen. But he keeps creating from sunrise to sunset, using the most primitive methods to awaken the vitality of the earth. At last, he stands on the stage of the “First Yun Gui Village Fantasy Crop Exhibition,” with tear-inducing onions, spirit rice that can be brewed into wine, and the future of the entire village behind him.

When technology collides with fantasy, and tradition meets something new, should humanity look up to immortal arts, or bend down to till the soil?
