Is It Wrong for a Corporate Drone Player to Work in HR in Another World?

After Chen Mo made it through his 999th late night at work, a strange job ad popped up on his computer:

“Hiring: World Repair Specialist”

“Requirements: Proficient in Excel, skilled at taking the blame, familiar with workplace jargon”

“Benefits: Otherworldly social insurance and housing fund, flexible working hours (flexible according to the boss)”

The moment he pressed Ctrl+Alt+Save the World, he found himself in the full-dive game “Divine Realm” as its lowliest hidden class: HR (Human Resources). With a corporate drone System that could analyze monsters’ performance reviews in his left hand and a briefcase stuffed with labor contracts in his right, he had to navigate between awakened NPCs and irritable players.

He drew up career plans for irascible dragons and rewrote recruitment listings for the Skeleton King;

he used PowerPoint to optimize the organizational structure of the Demon King’s castle;

he turned the Hero’s Sword into a DingTalk time clock.

As the game world teetered on the brink of collapse from overwork, the 28-year-old corporate drone suddenly realized that the slacking techniques, blame-shifting secrets, and daily-report prose he had honed at his desk were the ultimate code for repairing the laws of the world.

“Warning: You have worked for 25 consecutive hours.”

“This System recommends redeeming the ‘Paid Bathroom Break’ skill and logging off for a while.”

“Special reminder: Your real-world boss is sending you an overtime notice through a rift in the world...”
