A Medium's Guide to Raising Ghosts

The Spirit-Seer’s Eyes can see the obsessions of all living beings, but they cannot pierce the century-old scheme of her sect. Qing Wu descends the mountain with her Gluttony Pouch to exorcise ghosts. Each time she helps a vengeful spirit pass on, the blood-red mark around her wrist grows darker. It is a ghost-binding pact her master drew with her blood and bones. When the Ghost King Xie Wujiao uses her body to drink a ceremonial cup of wine with her, memories of a past life surge back: the Celestial Master who sealed him a thousand years ago was none other than Qing Wu herself, reborn a hundred times over. In this life, she must gouge out her own Spirit-Seer’s Eyes, for the deadliest ghost in the Three Realms is trapped within them: a jailer who fell in love with a prisoner. She crushes her Spirit-Seer’s Eyes and turns them into a thousand soul-guiding lanterns. “So the ones who needed saving were never the ghosts, but the obsessions trapped in people’s hearts.”
