The Porcelain Seer

A half-piece of broken jade he found on a rainy night when he was twelve gave Lin Yan the ability to “see” the memories of antiques. When bloody fingerprints appeared on a Southern Song celadon vase, and his master’s prized Three Autumns Vase became linked to an arson case from ten years ago, he gradually began to unravel the thousand-year mystery of the Pavilion of Rebirth, where human lives were used to fire porcelain and porcelain spirits were manipulated. The policewoman Fang Ning arrived with a fragment of the silver bell her father had left behind, only to discover that every clue pointed to Lin Yan. This “living porcelain body,” born with a rare gift, was both the key to opening the Sea of Porcelain Spirits and the only weapon capable of destroying the Pavilion of Rebirth.

Bloody fingerprints on porcelain shards, soul-summoning bells in the kiln fire, shattered memories in the mirror: when the three pieces of jade came together, the countdown to the Ghost Festival began. The life-and-death struggle between the worlds of humans and porcelain spirits started with a celadon vase at Gu Ji Zhai, and would reach its conclusion in Jingdezhen’s old kilns.

“Those who see spirits are doomed if they see blood? No. I’ll make every soul trapped in a porcelain vase see the light of dawn that will break this deadlock.”
