The Twin Butterflies of Time

Lin Qiu, a twenty-eight-year-old delivery rider, discovers that touching an object lets him see its memories. The butterfly-shaped birthmark on the back of his neck is the key to the “Time Gene” that the Black Moon organization has sought for twenty years. His daughter Duoduo, who has a heart condition, bears the same faint red mark on her palm. It turns out to be the key to activating a genetic experiment: her heart holds the other half of the Time Gene, which her mother split apart years ago.

The mysterious nurse Su Wanqing enters his life. The silver butterfly tattoo beneath her mechanical prosthetic leads to a twenty-year conflict between the Dawn organization and Black Moon. As a death scene in a villa bathtub, a corpse in a pet hospital freezer, and a butterfly brooch worn by a hospital director form a web of clues, Lin Qiu realizes that every use of his ability accelerates Duoduo’s heart failure. An even more cruel truth is revealed: Duoduo is not his younger sister, but his biological daughter, “conceived” through genetic technology. Their genes are the twin keys Black Moon needs to create a “Time Beacon.”

Black Moon’s mirror troops attack with their clones. When twelve silver butterfly hair clips come together to form the Time Beacon, Lin Qiu must use his ability to “retrace the past” and unravel the mystery of the twenty-year experiment. His mother’s final words, “The gift of time is not a blessing,” will finally find their answer in the ripples of time created when father and daughter touch, revealing the ultimate truth behind the twin butterfly shadows: a story of protection and sacrifice.
