Chronicles of the Miaojiang Gu Shadows

In the late Qing and early Republican era, warlords run rampant across the southern frontier. Qin Mu, a half-trained tomb raider, ventures into Miao territory on Thunder God Mountain to avenge his family's blood feud, and forms an alliance with A Man, the last inheritor of Miao witchcraft and gu arts. In eerie places such as the hanging coffins of the Bo people, an abandoned gu temple, and an ancient salt road, they face pursuit by gu witches and curses from mountain demons, while unraveling thousand-year-old mysteries including the vengeful spirit of the Flowerfall Cave Maiden and codes from the Classic of Mountains and Seas. When the underground palace of the Yelang King's tomb emerges, the gu mother and mountain demons mutate, revealing a conspiracy involving Japanese forces. As the secrets of the fragmentary Gu Scripture and the Map of the Blackwater Underworld River come to light, a thrilling legend of the ancient southern tribes unfolds amid the perilous secrets of Miao territory.
