Mother Hides Poison, I Hide a Blade: Together, We Quietly Set the World Right

[A scheming mother and daughter + a devoted, seductive hound + the second male lead’s regretful pursuit + no romantic rivalry between women + women saving one another] Ruan Xinkui is a heaven-blessed daughter, the chosen Crown Princess, and the envy of everyone. Her parents are devoted to each other, her little brother is well-behaved, her maternal grandfather is the prime minister, and her aunt is the empress. Taking her place in the Eastern Palace and ascending to the throne as empress seem only a matter of time. But one day, everything suddenly changes... Her betrothed, the Crown Prince: “Kui’er, no one is more suited than you to be my Crown Princess. And precisely because of that, you must never become my Crown Princess.” Ruan Xinkui: “Cousin Crown Prince, do you want to listen to what you just said? Does that make any sense?” And if you don’t want to marry me, fine. But why keep trying to kill me... Her biological father: “To hell with being a devoted husband and treating my daughter like a treasure. I’ve been pretending for years, and I’m sick of it...” Her little brother: “Well-behaved and clever? Nothing beats cockfighting, dog racing, and flower-gazing with pretty girls.” The sweet dumpling’s mother: “It was just a bit of fun. As if that man deserved my love at first sight, let alone to make me lose my head and fall for him!” It turned out the sweet dumpling’s mother was a black sesame rice ball, and one with a dazzlingly colorful filling at that... She could only trot along behind her, rubbing her hands together eagerly: “Mother, slow down. Let me deliver the final blow!” Later, her betrothed, who had repeatedly insisted he would never regret his decision, said: “Kui’er, I only realized too late. Why couldn’t you wait for me...” At some point, someone began following her everywhere, impossible to shake off. “I was the one who stabbed the Crown Prince.” “I know.” “My mother plans to kill the father and keep the child.” “Shall I hand her the knife?” When she said nothing, he added, “How about I strike the final blow for her?”
