Five-Pointed Maple Leaf

[A realistic period novel depicting campus life. A world of handsome young men and beautiful young women!] Students graduating from secondary teacher-training schools in 2000 were a special group. By then, the policy of government job assignments after graduation had been discontinued. This meant the class of 2000 would have to make their own way after graduating and rely on their own efforts to find teaching jobs. This unprecedented pressure brought the first great uncertainty of their lives to the teacher-training students. Faced with changes to the national job-assignment policy, students reacted in different ways. Some lost heart and wasted their time; others planned to find a different career after graduation and leave education behind. Only Cheng Lingfeng, whose family had been teachers for generations, was determined to devote himself to education. He always kept the motto of Maple Leaf Teachers College in mind: “Set an example as a teacher and keep pace with the times. Be innovative and keep learning throughout your life.” Qi Xiaowei, a beautiful young woman from a poor mountain village, was cheerful and passionate. Her dream was to teach in an impoverished mountain village after graduation. Qi Xiaowei and Cheng Lingfeng met at Five-Corner Maple Leaf Teachers College. They went from disliking each other at first to falling in love, and together they lived through one touching story after another. This is a portrait of the new teaching spirit of Maple Teachers College in the new era.
