Synopsis

[Signed, awaiting publication] Inspired by the author's own experience of secretly loving someone for six years, even though he already loves someone else. Xu Ci is outwardly a cool, gifted young man, but inwardly sensitive. Wanyue is outwardly sunny and cheerful, but inwardly sensitive and insecure, a sweet, well-behaved girl. One summer, amid the buzzing cicadas, Xu Ci and Wanyue fell in love at first sight. Xu Ci had to leave early for something, and Wanyue thought she'd never see him again. But then a transfer student arrived at her school. It was him, Xu Ci. Xu Ci was outgoing. On the day of the sports meet, he confessed his feelings to Wanyue. Somewhat dazed, she said yes. They dated for a month before Xu Ci learned about her stomach cancer and stomach problems. Her stomach problems could be cured, and he wanted to treat her illness, even though he knew full well that her blood cancer was incurable. Sixteen-year-old Wanyue never got to fulfill the promise she made to Xu Ci. She would remain sixteen forever. Before Wanyue died, she told Xu Ci, “Xu Ci, I hope you’ll be as passionate and radiant as your name.” When Xu Ci was eighteen, he wiped Wanyue's gravestone. Not a single tear fell from his eyes. His voice was calm, but broke as he said, “Little Moon, I’ve come to find you.” Fireworks bloom, and blood flows. Death will not come. Fireworks shine brilliantly across the sky. Little Moon, you can watch them as many times as you like. I’ll be with you. In spring, I’ll take you to see the sunflowers, blooming toward the sun. The carefree, uninhibited years of youth are a time of innocent first love and tender feelings, when it's easy to fall for things like love and longing.
