White Tiger Star Soul: The Legend of Xue Rengui

Based on the Tang Dynasty general Xue Rengui, this story follows Xue Li, a poor-born youth fated under the White Tiger constellation. He rises from humble beginnings as a hunter to become the guardian war god known for “three arrows that pacified Tianshan.” In white robes, he breaks through enemy ranks and strikes fear into Liaodong. After removing his helmet to reveal his white hair, he drives back two hundred thousand Turks, only to bear the humiliation of defeat at Dafeichuan amid political infighting. Throughout it all, he and his wife, Liu Yinghuan, remain devoted to one another through the bitter wind and snow of their humble cave dwelling. She seals their love with a red silk jacket and spends eighteen years compiling The Record of the Campaigning Husband, bearing witness to the pure heart that never fades beneath the aura of a war god.
