Wu Xie happens upon a mysterious ancient scroll in an antique shop, one that records clues to a tomb deep in the mountains of the southwest. Eager for the truth and adventure, he gathers Zhang Qiling and Wang Pangzi to journey into the mountains. Along the way, warnings from a strange old man and attacks by ferocious giant apes make their trek perilous. An ancient village emerges from the mist, and a mysterious box and tunnel in its ancestral hall lead them to an unknown stone chamber and a massive stone coffin.
