We Met in the Rain, and You Took My Breath Away

(A slow-burn romance + high school campus life + a touch of ensemble cast + healing and growth + a fantasy twist + ensemble cast.) Lin Zhiyu, a world-weary and level-headed girl who can communicate with all things under heaven, x Yun Li, an upright, fiercely protective young divine beast who can take human form. Lin Zhiyu thinks her deskmate isn’t human, in the literal sense. To her high school classmates, Lin Zhiyu is an ostracized oddball; to her relatives, she’s a sweet, silly girl. Her parents just don’t understand her. Lin Zhiyu thought that, in her dark and stifling life, with her distant personality, she would have only one friend for her entire life. Perhaps the heavens thought so too, because in her second year of high school, a mysterious transfer student arrived: a very gentle and popular boy. Unlike her other classmates, he didn’t look at her with disgust because of the rumors about her. Then came an unexpected incident. Lin Zhiyu’s extraordinary intuition and spiritual sensitivity told her that the transfer student before her wasn’t human. Yun Li was a young nobleman who had been betrayed and abandoned. He had made his way to the human world by the proper route and was just getting ready to enjoy himself when the sudden voice in his deskmate Lin Zhiyu’s heart put him on guard. She knew he wasn’t human, and had already guessed his identity. Lin Zhiyu’s eyes are two different colors, one black and the other dark green. Such a strange phenomenon is exceedingly rare. It often signifies exceptional ability in some particular area. They first met beneath a rain that heralded the world’s revival. After spending a long lifetime together, all the divine beast could do was look back on it for the rest of his long life.
