War of Resistance: After Crossing the Snowy Mountains and Grasslands, I Won Every Battle

Su Weiguo was a special forces soldier in the People’s Republic. He died on a mission and transmigrated into the body of a regimental commander in the early days of the Long March. Under his leadership, the 14th Regiment captured cities and strongholds, overcame every obstacle, and took part in battles such as the Four Crossings of the Chishui River and the forced crossing of the Dadu River. Its series of brilliant achievements during the Long March made him a commander of a crack regiment who earned a stake in the founding and the favor of the Commander-in-Chief. With the army suffering heavy losses and morale at rock bottom after the Long March, Red Army Headquarters assigned Su Weiguo, Li Yunlong, Ding Wei, Kong Jie, and Cheng Chishui to head east and establish a base area. The commanders of these crack regiments all quietly steeled themselves, determined to rise above the rest. Under Su Weiguo’s leadership, the 14th Regiment wiped out bandits, struck down local tyrants, redistributed land, and rooted out traitors, steadily building up its strength and restoring its organization... In 1937, the full-scale war of Japanese aggression broke out. The Commander-in-Chief summoned his generals to discuss the grand strategy for resisting Japan. Ding Wei: “Our 15th Regiment has just over five thousand men, with light and heavy machine guns...” Kong Jie: “Our 16th Regiment has just over four thousand men, and a few mortars...” Cheng Chishui: “Our 18th Regiment has just over four thousand men, with weapons and equipment...” Li Yunlong: “Our 17th Regiment is doing all right, with only a little over eight thousand men. The equipment’s nothing special either, just one Italian cannon, light and heavy machine guns...” As everyone reported on their achievements in developing their forces, a vast, well-equipped army appeared before them, complete with cavalry, artillery, and motor vehicles... Su Weiguo: “Our 14th Regiment has done pretty well, with only forty thousand men...”
