From Now On, Gu Wang Is Gone. There’s Only You

Gu Wang: The fifth prince, and the most favored

Su Miao: The only female general

Su Miao and Gu Wang met at her victory banquet. Gu Wang fell in love at first sight with the spirited female general, Su Miao.

The next day, Gu Wang petitioned the Emperor to grant them a marriage. But the Emperor, who had always doted on Gu Wang, refused. Su Miao commanded an army of 100,000, and if she married Gu Wang, she might well rebel.

The Emperor gave Su Miao a choice: marry Gu Wang and give up her military career to keep house, or remain a general, but never marry Gu Wang. Knowing the military authority her family had built up over generations was their legacy, Su Miao chose to stay a general and vowed to defend the frontier for the rest of her life.

Gu Wang rushed up to Su Miao and demanded to know why. She replied only, “The country and its people matter more than romance.”

But not long after Su Miao left, Gu Wang went mad from unrequited love. The Emperor, heartbroken for him, could only send him to the frontier to find Su Miao...

(After the Emperor’s people bring him to the frontier, he still has a doll resembling Su Miao in his arms. His eyes sparkle as he dresses and grooms it, murmuring to himself.) “My lady, wait for A-Wang to wash and brush you. I’ll make you look beautiful.” (Once he’s finished, he happily shows the doll to everyone.) “Look, this is my lady, the only female general in Great Xia! She’s so capable, and so beautiful!” (He hugs the doll tightly, pressing his cheek against its face.) “She loves me so much. She couldn’t possibly love anyone else in this life.”

Everyone: How pitiful.

(Talking to the doll as if the rest of the world doesn’t exist.) My lady, A-Wang misses you so much... (He suddenly looks up and sees Su in the distance. He freezes.) My lady? (His face lights up.)
