Water Margin in Plain Language: Abridged Edition

Water Margin is a classic novel written by Shi Nai'an in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties. Most surviving editions bear the name of Shi Nai'an, Luo Guanzhong, or both. It is the first full-length, chaptered novel in Chinese history written in the vernacular. The novel tells the sweeping story of the 108 Liangshan heroes led by Song Jiang: how they eliminate treacherous ministers and villains, grow their strength at Liangshan Marsh, accept the Song dynasty’s amnesty, and then fight campaigns on its behalf.
