Unbridled Desire: The Midnight Sun and Polar Night with Mr. Zhanning

[Industrial fantasy romance + transmigration to the 19th century + marriage before love + contract marriage + love grows over time + a long-planned scheme + sweet romance + happy ending] [The naïve Vera, who stumbles into marriage × the calculating Jennings, who carefully schemes at every turn] Vera transmigrates to Europe during the 19th-century magical Industrial Revolution. Everyone says she’s lucky: she’s not only the sole daughter of a wealthy family, she can also freely choose whom to marry. The only catch is that she can inherit her grandfather’s estate only after she gets married. To inherit his company, Vera chooses a man who seems aloof and utterly dull to marry. He even agrees to Vera’s demanding prenuptial agreement. Those around them don’t believe in their marriage of two strong-willed business partners. They say that if they’re so busy they have to live apart, married life will be nothing but hardship, and sooner or later they’ll divorce. Vera hears this and agrees. Mm. It really is hard. The hardest part is having to revise the agreement’s final clause over and over. Vera: “Can’t you manage? Shouldn’t we go by what you can actually do?” Jennings: “I can manage.” Vera: “I’ll owe you for the next few months. We can talk about it later.” Jennings: “All right.” Vera: “Do you want me to pay it all at once?” Jennings: “Two months, no interest, all at once. And I want to draw on it early once, too.” Only after the restrictions are lifted does Vera lose track of whether it’s day or night whenever she’s with Jennings.
